Gwinnett Medical Center

Gwinnett Medical Center’s mission is to offer a full range of preventative, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner.  GMC focuses on patients by delivering innovative services of superior quality at the best value, by fostering continuous improvement in everything they do.   

Electrocautery Machines (Two) Specific to Endoscopy 

Gwinnett Medical Center has a need for two electrocautery machines specific for Endoscopy.  Electrosurgery employs high-frequency alternating electrical current which is produced by a generator unit. The ability to cut and coagulate at the same time is what makes electrosurgery an indispensable therapeutic tool for gastroenterology.  This machine helps to control bleeding and also removes polyps.  

Colorectal Screening Kits 

The Health Education and Wellness Department at Gwinnett Medical Center gives away 1,000 colorectal screening kits to members of the community each year.  This screening can detect the presence of blood in the stool.  We encourage patients to speak with their healthcare provider about their risk for colorectal cancer if blood is detected in their stool.  Kits are primarily distributed at health fairs.

Northside Hospital Forsyth

 American Cancer Society Patient Navigator 

The Patient Navigator at Gwinnett Medical Center works with cancer patients at the moment of diagnoses as they begin their cancer journey. The program is newly designed and implements a proactive strategy to reach out to help cancer patients, family members and caregivers in the hospital setting and beyond.

 Breast Cancer Treatment Handbooks (GMC & Northside Forsyth) 

Breast Cancer Treatment Handbooks will be given to patients who are diagnosed with the disease in Gwinnett & Forsyth Counties.  The Handbooks are a wonderful reference for women diagnosed with Breast Cancer, helping them understand the disease, treatments, emotions and recovery process.

Turning Point Women's Healthcare

In TurningPoint’s free-standing clinic, women are offered comprehensive rehabilitation care, including:

• Physical therapy by professionals who are trained to identify and manage specific side effects of breast cancer treatment 
• Massage therapy by women who are sensitive to physical limitations
• Nutrition and exercise counseling
• Counseling focused on life with and after breast cancer
• Monthly education programs on important topics to women battling breast cancer

 These services improve quality of life by reducing pain, restoring motion, regaining strength and learning how to cope with the emotional issues of living with and surviving breast cancer. Barriers to care are reduced through TurningPoint's financial assistance program for underinsured women and outreach programs to Hispanic and inner-city women in Greater Atlanta.

 Founded in 2003, TurningPoint serves approximately 300 women annually, and has served over 1,500 women with breast cancer in the Greater Atlanta community since opening. In addition to rehabilitative services, TurningPoint offers complimentary community education programs in English and Spanish that address survivorship issues and help women return to full quality of life. Ongoing education programs are provided to educate healthcare providers, the community at large and breast cancer survivors about the management of physical and psychological issues facing women with and after breast cancer. Staff members speak regularly at healthcare and breast cancer conferences, provide outreach to inner-city women and participate in community events such as health fairs and breast cancer support groups.
